D. John Theodorakis
Prior to founding Perspectives Legal in 2011, John served as Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Thales Avionics, Inc. where he served as a member of the Executive Staff for this major commercial aerospace business. At Thales he was responsible for all legal matters for the company. He also served as Compliance Officer and managed all corporate and compliance matters for the Board of Directors. While there, he successfully defended the company against a multi-million dollar trade secret misappropriation claim by its chief competitor.
Before joining Thales, John was Legal Counsel and Director of Contracts for Honeywell International’s Air Transport Systems business where he served as a key member of the leadership team for this major commercial avionics business. At Honeywell he served as lead counsel for the major avionics development, sales and support agreements with Boeing for the 787 “Dreamliner” aircraft.
Prior to Honeywell, HearMe a provider of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) application technologies appointed John to serve as its Vice president and General Counsel. At HearMe, John was an integral part of the senior management team, negotiated complex agreements and counseled the finance team and investor relations concerning the company’s stock, financial disclosure issues, and the preparation of SEC Reports and proxy materials.
Earlier, John served as corporate counsel for Avaya Inc., where he was responsible for all legal matters involving Avaya's customer relationship management (CRM) business, including licensing and other revenue deals, strategic relationships, alliance programs, and professional services. He was a key negotiator and lead lawyer in Avaya's negotiation of its strategic relationship and alliance agreements with Siebel Systems.
Prior to Avaya's spin-off from Lucent, John was corporate counsel of the Communications Applications Group of Lucent Technologies Inc. In this role he was responsible for a range of legal and contract negotiations and agreements with service providers, and for litigation. He also served as a member of the executive management team for the Messaging Solutions Group. John also worked as legal counsel for Octel Communications Corporation and as corporate counsel in the Octel Messaging Division of Lucent Technologies, managing the Service Provider Messaging Group's legal and contracts negotiation activities following Lucent's acquisition of Octel. He was a member of the Senior Leadership Team for the Octel Messaging Division. Prior to Octel, he was an associate at the law firm of Wilson, Sonsini, Goodrich & Rosati where he specialized in intellectual property litigation.
John is a Member of the State Bar of California.
